Box Lake

Life is funny sometimes - When Mark and I were getting ready to move from Idaho we were pretty excited to get out, try new things, new scenery. With that said we also had a few things left that we had wanted to do before we left and wished that we just had one more summer to do them all.....Wish granted, actually wish extended to 2-4 years :) One of those things on the wish list of Idaho was backpacking to Box Lake....... Last week we did, with Mark's sister Jana and it was pretty awesome, definitely worth the loooonng hike up.
We hiked up Friday morning camped for a few days and then hiked out Sunday morning. We spent our days fishing, swimming, hiking around the lake, and boiling water to drink because I
dropped and broke our water filter :) oops

After Hiking up a very steep trail we were excited to first, see the lake and second, start the downhill descent to the lake.

On one side of the lake there was a fire which left a forest of burnt trees. It was actually really oddly pretty, it was fun to walk through the burnt part because you can just see all around the forest its not blocked by anything.

Jumping into the ice cold glacier lake....
Jana fishing - she caught the biggest two, but they got away before we could reel them all the way in. We each caught our fare share of fish, it was delicious for dinner.

Mark's action shot of me casting - I don't really know what I am looking at

Eating our fish for dinner, this is Mark taking all the bones out.
Yoga Session over the lake....

It was pretty nice waking up to this view every morning.....

Box lake was amazing and we loved it.... but we were pretty excited to go get some food other then instant mashed potatoes and fish and to drink something other then smokey fire water :)

  1. You guys are so legit. You need to teach me how to camp, as sad as that sounds haha. Beautiful pictures!

  3. My heavens you guys are little outdoorsmans. Like moreso than I ever have seen before in my life. Have you guys always been Mr. and Mrs. Mothernature? Or was this idea born after you now live in the great outdoor state? You'll have to show us around when we come to visit now that you know all the good nature nooks. Yes. I said it. Nature nooks.
