Mesa Falls Marathon

The last weekend of August my sister Collette & her husband Justin came over from Boston to spend some time with their favorite sister and brother-in-law in the potato state. During their stay we ran the Mesa Falls Marathon! Okay we didn't, Collette and Justin did. Mark & I are not that hardcore yet, maybe next summer. But we did run the Mesa Falls 5K with my dad who came up from Vegas for the big race.

My favorite part of the race was our race bags that had our numbers, shirts, prizes, goodies, etc in them. They were potato bags, so dang funny.

Mark & I watched as all the marathoners came stumbling in thinking to ourselves is it worth it? Everyone looks so exhausted, people passing out, getting sick - watching the after run cramps and muscle aches put a damper on any marathon ambitions for awhile. Maybe a half marathon? That sounds a little better.....
My dad got this idea a number of years ago to start a tradition of running in a race every Thanksgiving morning. So for the last 6 or more years we have gone and run the "Catch the Gobbler" 5k every Thanksgiving. So he has turned us into seasoned 5K runners.

Collette & Justin - the real hardcore runners. Collette finished her first marathon with awesome time, everyone was surprised it was only her first. And Justin did awesome in the half-marathon!
