Mark & I went to Washington D.C. last week. We had a wicked good time and loved having Collette and Justin come down from Boston to join us. Neither Mark or I had ever been to D.C. so we decided to go together to enjoy the wonderful history and fun sites . The weather was beautiful and warm. So that we remember the trip I am going to post each day we were there with the corresponding activities we did.
Day 1 - Mt Vernon (George Washington's Home & Farm)
Loved Loved Loved Mt Vernon! The house was beautiful, the farm was adorable, the view of the Potomac River was magnificent, and the Museum was fabulous. I loved the exhibit they had on the restoration of Mt. Vernon and the ladies organization that saved this wonderful landmark.

Day 1 continued - National Zoo
This zoo was so neat! Mostly because it was free, and because zoos are just a fun place. I thought the Red Panda above was so adorable....
That night we went and saw "The King's Speech", now that it has been edited and released as PG-13. Such a great movie. On our way back we decided to stop and see the Lincoln Memorial at night. It was so neat to see it when no one else where there it was so silent and peaceful
Funny Moments of the Day:
Justin's shoe broke at the zoo, the whole sole just fell off - random. So he hobbled around on the broken show and put the sole in Collette's purse.
The Gorillas at the zoo we pretty crazy, as in disgusting. I have seen lots of Gorilla exhibits but never any like this. There was one in the back that was vomiting and then eating it again, over & over. We saw him do it at least 5 times while we sat there. Another was going to the bathroom and then drinking it again, saw that a couple times. The baby gorilla sat in front of the glass and picked his nose and ate it for the majority of the time. It was bizarre - the middle schools boys on a field trip found it very entertaining.

We also got to go check out D.C. Cupcakes – a show on TLC is filmed there. It was delicious, we got a chocolate cupcake that had peanut butter in the middle, yum.
