Iceland

Last fall Mark found an incredible deal on a package to Iceland that included flights, hotel,and a northern lights tour. We have always wanted to go to Iceland but we never got the chance before Mark stopped working for an airline and we lost our flight benefits- we booked it. It was an incredible trip and we had such a great time.

 Day 1: Reykjavik
The first day we spent the day exploring Reykavik. We took a walking tour, ate delicious fish & chips, and just loved hanging out in this awesome city.

 Day 2: Golden Circle
The second day we spent the whole day driving through the "golden circle", a drive with some famous waterfalls, historic viking areas, beautiful views, and a nice quick view of Iceland. It was really overcast and cloudy so we couldn't see any of the glaciers that you normally can. But it was still gorgeous.

 

Glacier: Coming from the land of "Old Faithful" Iceland's glaciers were pretty small and not as impressive as Yellowstone, but still any boiling water gushing from the center of the earth is pretty cool.

Day 3: Country Horse Back Riding

We loved riding these furry little ponies through the country side. 

It was incredible gorgeous. Riding horses and being 14 weeks pregnant is a little hard on the bladder :) But we still had a wonderful time.

That night we were suppose to go on a Northern Lights boat tour - but it was really rainy and overcast. Since it was our last night and we wouldn't be able to go they gave a gift certificate to an incredibly nice restaurant. We enjoyed a great 9 course meal overlooking the Reykjavik harbor. We were able to try great local fish and it was a really fun night. 

Day 4: Blue Lagoon.
The last day we spent soaking in the famous seawater hot springs, the blue lagoon.

We missed this little goober like crazy. I am pretty sure he forgave us for leaving him after we drowned him in European Chocolate. And I am pretty sure he had more fun at home partying with Oma, Grandpa, Darwin, Collette & Justin, and Aunt Micah.
