Boston

We went to Boston over Presidents Day. I got home from Salt Lake on Thursday and we left Friday afternoon... Emerson is an airplane pro now.  This time Mark got to fly with us which made things a whole lot easier.

The flight there was amazing! The flight had a lot of open seats and they gave Emerson his own. We took his car seat on, which made things a whole lot easier for the 5.5 hour flight. He slept for the first two hours

 Then when we woke up he thought the in flight entertainment center was pretty neat and watched some basketball with Mark and then played for awhile. Had an epic dirty diaper on the plane ( thanks for being on diaper duty mark:) ) and then we put him to bed at his normal time.

 He slept through the airport and the car ride to Collette's and then we swaddled him up and put him in the crib and he stayed right asleep- And he didn't wake up until the next morning! He was one happy boy to wake up in Boston!

 Then Darwin woke up to his favorite cousin and decided he would E's hand while they talked to each other. Love seeing these cute boys together

 That day we ventured into downtown Boston to take the boys to the New England Aquarium.

 Apparently Emerson and Darwin found the loud noises of the underground "T" soothing and they both fell right to sleep through their first subway ride. I love that my child will sleep through a noise train ride but wakes from his nap at the slightest noise when we are at home....

 The aquarium was a hit - with all participants. ( Emerson licks and chews on the front of the Bjorn so we have to put a burp cloth in front so it doesn't get soaked in Emerson spit - he has a thing for eating fabric or anything with texture)

I was really surprised how much Emerson and Darwin did like the aquarium at such a young age. But fish are the way to go with these little guys, they thought the bright colors and water were highly entertaining.

We also ventured of to Faneuil Hall & Quincey Market to get some lunch. We tried some New England clam chowder and Lobster Mac & Cheese

 

After a long day trekking through snowy Boston this tired boy crashed

For Mark's birthday Collette and Justin got us a gift card to go to dinner at "Figs"-  this great Italian restaurant in Charlestown. They watched the little munchkin and we went out on the town. After getting lost a few times.... We hadn't ever driven in Boston - we finally found it and had a wonderful time. We love Boston, it is where we got engaged so it was fun to go out in the city again. Looks like Em had a good time while we were away also...... Hair abuse from the Auntie Co

On Sunday we just took it easy, let the boys play together

Collette was dangling toys in front of the boys to grab - Darwin would grab his toy and then Collette would hold one out for Emerson and Darwin would roll over and grab it before E got it. It was pretty fun, Emerson has to work on his quick grabbing skills.

On President's Day we were going to take a trip to Braintree to John Adam's home, - we felt that was very fitting for President's Day, but it was closed. Boo. So we headed over to Harvard Square. It was FREEZING that day so we popped into the Harvard Natural History Museum to wander around and keep warm. 

We went over to the Curious George store in Harvard Square but the boys had both fallen asleep. So we went over to Panera to warm up with delicious soup and sandwiches.

We had a blast visiting Collette and Justin. We have decided though that Boston is a lot more fun to visit in the Spring and Summer, brr it was cold. We still haven't been in the fall though, so we hope to make it out in September or October this year to see Boston in fall.

The way home the flight was booked full... but someone 2 people didn't show up and we made the flight. But we didn't get to sit by each other. Luckily we were right behind each other though so we would pass Emerson to each other.  A little more difficult because he didn't sleep as well not being in his car seat and our arms were getting dead tired trying to hold him. Luckily Mark and an ingenious idea and we laid him on the tray table :) He got fussy a few times but over all not to shabby. The next day he was a little bit of a tired mess and was way off with the time difference. But after an early bed time and a good nights sleep he was back to normal.

 

*  A few people have asked how Emerson hasn't gotten sick or if I worry about the germ fest in the airport and planes. Yes yes and yes. I use hand sanitizer like a mad women if  I have touched anything before I touch him and wash all his blankets, burp clothes, etc super well and I sanitize all his bottles and pacifiers when we get home. I am really convinced  that nursing him and using OnGaurd ,an essessential oil, on him before we go anywhere in public is the only reason he hasn't been sick.  Some people claim bogus with oils, which is fine,  but I do know that Emerson hasn't been sick once and has been in malls, airports, public places, planes, church, around Mark & I both while we were sick, etc and is health as can be so something is working :)
