8 Months

8 Months - this little monster is getting so dang big. We guesstimate that he is a little over 20 lbs right now. He is wearing 6-12 month clothes, but they are getting tighter - and has fit into a few 18 month clothing! His infant car seat is pretty small now and he is need of a bigger one. I am reluctant to give it up because it is so much easier to travel with, but it is getting pretty inevitable with the way this boy is growing.  He got his 2nd haircut, and his hair just keeps getting lighter and lighter, I'm a little sad because we loved his dark hair.

He is so full of personality and a little character. He loves when people talk and interact with him. He is a little ham and just grins at people in the store or at church to try and get them to talk to him. He especially  loves it when people speak Spanish to him - so funny - but he gets so excited when people come up and speak Spanish to him when we are out running errands.  Emerson defiantly is not a child that allows himself to be forgotten. If your not giving him attention that he wants he will let you know. His allotment of time being content on the floor with toys is getting shorter and shorter.... We got a few new toys which helped a little but he defiantly has to have a change of activity often.

He talks non-stop - really... this was in the car. He really does this all day long.

Mark and I were both extremely shy kids - this does not seem to be the case for our attention seeking chatter box. Which I am defiantly okay with, I love my little independent attention hog :) He is getting separation anxiety and whenever Mark or I leave the room or he can't see us, he has a little melt down.
Is this crusty mad face not hilarious?
By the afternoon we always have to go out and do something or he goes completely stir crazy. The bad news is that its so hot we can't go on our daily run in the morning, but the good news is that its so hot that swimming is our new activity. He is our little fish and loves it. He loves sitting on the steps with me and splashing around. We also got him a little floaty which he will sit in for a little but prefers to be swimming in our arms so he can kick and splash.  My sister and nephews went swimming in our pool one evening and I just walked over to visit instead of swim. Emerson was not ok with that, he was so mad and literally was trying leaping out of my arms for the pool - I had to go back for his swimwear and then he was as happy as can be.

His 2 bottom teeth came in, yay! They came in just a few days of each other - he was a giant grouch. Plus he got his first cold :( So we had a rough 2 weeks with teething and colds. The good thing is that when he was sick his naps were 1.5 hours- to 2 hours! He naps 2-3 a day for about 45 mins to 1 hour. Same old bed time routine - typically wakes up around 5:30-6:30 for an early breakfast and back down to 7 or 8. Really wish he would give that time up, he will sometimes and sleep straight to 7:30 but on average he still needs his early breakfast.
Still not crawling, but getting close. I see him crawl all over his crib on our monitor but on the floor its usually just pushing himself in the plank position or scooting backwards. He is getting really good at standing though and has pulled himself half way to the standing position by himself. But he can still get where he wants to go and finds plenty of mischief.

He is a huge animal lover and freaks out (in a good way) when he sees any kind. His favorite place in the house is the guest room because our turtles are in there. Whenever he is crying or upset he immediately stops when he sees those turtles, so funny.
He eats three meals a day now - and eats everything and anything. Avocados is still hit and miss, sometimes I can get him to eat it and sometimes he won't. Sweet potatoes are defiantly a favorite, I cut them into little cubes and roast them with garlic and olive oil and keep them in the fridge for the week. I put them on his tray and he just gobbles them up. Blueberries have been his favorite fruit so far also - he loves them. The only meat he has had is some grilled Salmon which he is a huge fan of. His record so far for food was that he ate one whole blueberry pancake, half a banana, and about 10 blueberries for breakfast one morning - unreal that was by far the most he has ever eaten. He was nursing every 3 hours but just kept getting shorter and shorter so the last 3 days we backed down to nursing every 4 hours and he seems to be okay with that. Green smoothie's always get a big thumbs up

We love this cute boy - even more then last month

  2. I love you little E. You're the best. When Ellie would teeth, she would always get a runny nose... I wonder if that's what he had? Either way, bummer. Teething is no fun. But worth it in the end, no worries little guy.

  3. Cole's little best friend is so cute. The noises, the crusty mad face, and the food faces are my favoritos. The best.
It's just time to play together again.
