One Month

Our Sweet Girl turned one month. She was 21 inches (50%) and 8lbs 8 ounces (25%) Eliza's first month of life has been great, an adjustment for all as we moved back into newborn world and Emerson made the move from an only child to big brother, but great none the less. She loves music and always smiles in the same places in songs. She loves when Emerson lays next to her and talks to her. He made up a song for her "Hey Baby Eliza, your the cutest baby, you poop but thats okay!" he likes to sing it to her multiple times a day. This spunky girl has an opinion on most things and will let you know when she wants something -sleep, food, to be set down, to be held. She will take a pacifier when she is tired and winding down but spits it out after a few minutes. She keeps the tongue on the roof of her month constantly which makes nursing near impossible, so we are still pumping a bottle feeding, we even have to push her tongue to get a bottle in, but we are still hoping she can get nursing soon! The lactation consultant refereed us to a speech therapist to have them work and do exercises with her to get her tongue and sucking reflexes right. After discussing it with her pediatrician and weighing the pros and cons of trying to take a newborn and a toddler to appointments multiple times a week to just maybe get her to nurse we resorted to pumping and practicing nursing at home. She does great when we go out and loves hanging out and sleeping in the Solly Baby wrap. Eliza goes to bed between 8 or 9 and then we feed her again between 10-11 before we go to bed and then she still wakes up at 2 with me and then 5 with Mark and then up for the day about 8am.

We love this girl and are so glad she is in our family.
